    C550i random strange prints

We have a C550i that randomly outputs prints with lines all over the page like the attached sample. We also get C-FA14 sometimes. The CPU board have been replaced earlier to fix a boot problem. We have also replaced the storage board but still get strange prints sometimes.

I know C-FA14 can also be triggered by "crap print data" thanks to old or generic drivers / wsd port. How often do you get these prints? If it's reproduceable during service visits you can hook up your laptop and do some tests to rule out the customer IT components/configurations.

THis kind of image error might also be related to a bad RAM or contact issues. I'm not shure but I think the RAM is soldered on the CPU board so it's already ruled out.
I'd also re-seat all connectors on base board and laser unit.

We did bring this MFP to our office for trouble-shooting. The Fa14 occurs 1-2 times/day even during the evening our early in the morning when the machine isn't in use.
We have seen the strange prints 3-4 times in in abot 1300 prints in our office using the Universal PCL driver v. 3.9.630.0. I can't remember what driver the customer is using, but it is shared from a server and they have two older C550i that works fine.
This is a C550i with the A800 memory board and I noticed that the flat cable from the laser unit is connected to this board.
The self-diagnosis does not find any problems. Firmware is currently GC2-Q9.

I suspect laser can you remove A800 memory board and try without it?

As I understand it there is a different CPU board for machines "without memory board".

            I'm not so sure.

I may be wrong but think just firmware is different. So to rule out A800 I would remove it and flash machine with appropriate firmware.
