got an email from a supplier saying these copiers were being discontinued parts form Konica Minolta . wanted to see if any one has heard samething

nope... we still pot those in the field 2nd hand. I think is just an announcement wich comes ~5 years after the last production. Consumables are available for more years to come, same goesfor most parts. You can still get kinda everything for the 4 series.
It's actually the C220 series with some major parts (like fuser) not available anymore but I think that's ok giving it's age... -
