I have an FS-534 finisher with the optional SD-511 saddle stitcher. The folding knife stay assembly broke at one end (a common problem from what I hear). Is there a way that I can still use the finisher without using the folding unit? I would like to get it to print jobs flat (ignoring the presence of the SD-511) so I can fold and stitch offline. I just want to finish the print job that is already started. Right now, it offers to continue without folding, but then forces me to turn the power off at the sub power switch. This continues in a loop. (Update: I now realize that the sub power is the button, not the switch. All is good now. I was able to bypass the folding and finish the print job flat.)
I'm hoping there is a hardware dip switch or soft switch that tells the finisher it either has or doesn't have the SD-511 installed. The other idea is unplugging the DS-511 (inside the finisher), but that seemed unhelpful when I tried it.
Also, does anyone know of a source for the updated knife stay assembly? I don't want to have to buy a new finisher every time this happens. I also don't see a good way to repair the failed part.
