I'm also having a couple of machines with this trouble.

I'm thinking I could have a bad optics motor on both machines (happened before) but I'm open to other possibilities, since I'd like to eliminate them before ordering these parts.

    Cheers!

Sarmodi: Check if you have your optic mirrors clean, as well as the lamp and the CCD lens. That was my problem in both my machines (the CCD couldn't read the white stripe at powerup).

      Other possible causes:

      - Optics motor
      - Bind on any paper tray lift (try the machine with the trays open and close them one at a time if the error disappears)
      - Look for a piched wire oin the registration unit.

Please give me some feedback when you check those!
