Konica BH C554e does a new cyan developer unit require calibration?

Hello guys, i hope you had a nice weekend.
it had a noisy cyan developer unit. i installed the new one, but for the life of me, in service mode, i cant find any calibration or F8 as in the past. and i also don't find a parts count reset, but it appears that the unit count did reset on its own.

i didn't pay much attention that when i made the diagnosis, it displayed to replace the cyan toner. the customer said they just did.
after i left the machine wouldn't print, and said cyan toner empty. after looking for a cause, i found the CRUM chip relay connector for that the cyan, the contacts were all down, and wouldn't stay up all the way.

the connector should be there tomorrow. i am also wondering if the machine remembers that particular cartridge and wont allow it to read full even after replacing the contact connector??

hopefully I'm not to deep into this to have a good outcome.

thank you for any advice anyone might be able to offer me.

Chips are just dumb fuses with a resistors to identify CMY or K. Machine keeps counts down after the fuse blows on the article.
F8.... you must have worked on Minolta in the analog era .

It calibrates automatically after "new article detection" The toners work the same way.

Should be all good after replacing the contacts. The contacts cams up and down by moving the blue locking lever.
    Whatever

oh, thank you allan so much for that. i remember the pico fuses. how cool.

let me ask if i may, as for the toner that was reading low, but actually if the connector wasn't touching the crum chip, once i replace the connector, the toner should work right?

I'm assuming there isn't a pico fuse on the toner.
that would be really going back a long time to a Sharp laser printer toner and drum.

Yes, analogue, but the Biz Hub 600 and 200 weren't analogue i don't think.

All SMD components on the chip. The fuse value is around 63mA. If the fuse is still in tact the the toner value will go back to full.
          Glad to help.

There are engine soft switches that can reset the value without the chip if nothing else works or engine data got lost.

            thank you.
i think in my exhaustive service mode search, i did find what looked like a supply reset? i didn't do it then, but if need be, i will hope that works.

Hello allan, i replaced the defective toner cartridge CRUM contact relay connector and it now indicates a full toner.
but it still only copies, wont print and the movie data is missing.
i did a Logical reformat, and same thing. trying to get into admin mode, sometimes works, but other times only tabs 5, 7 and 8 i think are visible. and other times, trying to get to the second page to save customer data wont work, just freezes.
also i cant run any config or internal reports.

so i am going back to replace the HDD and do both the physical and logical format and cross my fingers it isn't an NVRAM issue.

just wanted to thank you for getting me on the right track with the toner indication issue.

              sheesh...

have a very nice holiday weekend.
