    Bizhub c 224 Jam 32-05 code

    Help appreciated on this bizhub c 224 very intermittent but regular jam
    The code is 32-05 which indicates its a paper exit sensor PS3 code
    Its intermittent I have run 150 at a time off no probs then will jam 2 0r 3 times in next batch of 50
    It seems to happen more on 2 sided but may be a coincidence
    It does it from both trays 1 and 2 both are A4
    Sensor reads ok in service mode test
    Any one had similar issues on this model

      There are two things I know of you can look at. And yes its more common on double sided prints.

      First there are dampener pads on the door side on the exit section to stop noise from the path selection gates movement. They can become sticky delaying the gate. Remove those. I stick small blocks cut from the replacement pads that is on the end of the wand that cleans the laser glass instead of the rubber dampeners.
      Any thing else that will delay the gate movement will cause this issue like the bushings on the ends of the gate or even the solenoid. You could try and replace the switch-back unit if removing the pads does not help and its not the next issue. In some cases you will find that the paper jamming into the gate or going to the single sided exit instead of to the switchback path.

      Then there is the plastic holder that hold the sensor actuator or the exit sensor. Due to the heat from the fuser the plastic deforms causing it to jam. Remove and dissemble the exit section but first get another PS sensor handy because it could crumble away completely attempting to remove the connector. If you are crafty you can fix the issue with a paperclip clamping one end under the screw that is there and bending it to retain the actuator properly again. Or find the complete exit section from a scrap machine.

      In both cases it can be frustratingly intermittent.

          Thanks for the helpful guidance this customer is not on service contract its a chargeable job so we have advised the customer it may need another call out charge for further investigation If I go back I will try your recommendations and let you know
