    [Misc] Formatting HDD - c754e - Locked at 100%

Good afternoon everyone! I finally have the printers in hand and have begun the process of repair, but I've run into a snag that maybe someone on here has seen before. When I try to format the HDD (brand new) it gets stuck on 100% and doesn't move. I've let it sit for ~5 hours, and so far nothing.. I have the most updated firmware, 320gb notebook hard drives, and have done a thorough look through the service guide. So far nothing nothing has worked. I can't do a logical because this isn't complete, but it continually gets stuck on 100%.

    Some notes:

+ When I got the printers all of them are HDD locked, so no copy or printing (and there was no HDD to begin with).
+ When processing the format it will take its' sweet time, but will never finish or let me do anything on screen. Sound works, buttons don't.
+ I have 4 total printers to burn, so I am happy to try anything to try and save these guys.
+ I have done these steps: firmware, HDD format (Freeze) // HDD Format (Freeze) // Firmware (still HDD Locked - even though brand new) // Logical Format is unavailable unless HDD format is done first (I'm assuming)

Thank you all for your help, I am slowly getting better at these little guys, but boy do they want to make me pull my hair out... After this, I'm going to stick to KM production presses.

    Thanks again!

Updating firmware always had fingers crossed until the Konica logo showed up

Firmware is up to date, but the problem is not being able to do a logical or physical format. The physical is stuck at 100% after 5+ hours. Even after the firmware update, there is no change.

      Thanks!

What specifically would I be looking for? The only thing that is odd is that even when the machine has or does not have HDD, the machine won't let me change the value to installed or not installed.

Other than that, no luck on anything. I completely started fresh, and no matter what I do I'm stuck at 100% physical. I read on another thread to try and partition it with a PC then from there install it, but from what the printer says, it has room.

          Thank you!

The bizhub C754e used a 250 GB HDD. See if you can get a 250 GB drive to try.

I forgot about that reply - I will try that first thing. They all have the bizhub security, I will try a data reset and see if that makes a difference. Thank you for the reply!

Only applicable to a drive already in a machine with Secure Print jobs stored on it, not a new drive with no data stored on it. Attaching the drive to a PC and doing a low level format and partition will eliminate that problem.

I am going to try and manually format another drive tomorrow to see if that works.

thank you for the advice. I really appreciate all you guys, this whole ordeal has become way more work than it should have been.

                        Thank you!

But now your be an expert and never forget how you fixed it

Had problems with finisher and schools never teach crap about them. But after working on it for a while I became an expert on it.

                          Good luck

According to konica, the use of 320GB HDD is ok, but has had Issues due to its extended size. This was supposed to be fixed with a firmware update though.
