Need to track copies, not prints. Any machines that will do this? Client is tracking customers and there prints, over 1000 clients, so our konica minolta is gone.

You may want to take a look at some of the Kyocera Machines. I am looking at a brochure for one of the newer models and it states that the machine supports 1k departments, and 10k user codes. That is their new color mahine the x50c series. Check it out of their site.

Hmmmm...our latest copiers still have internally 1000 user list, but there is also external authentication list compatibility with our pagescope line of programs to extend the capability. A program called PageScope Authentication Manager can do what you need.
An excerpt from one of the user manuals on a C451/550/650
Reference
- Either user authentication or account track settings can be configured, or user authentication can be synchronized with account track. Settings can be configured for the both and used without being synchronized.
- A total of 1,000 users and accounts can be registered.
- To register more than 1,000, use PageScope Authentication Manager. You can register up to 30,000 usersand accounts.

PSES with the Authentication Manager is the way to go with Konica Minolta's as you can push the same information out to an enitre fleet of copiers.
Best thing is that the software can be accessed using a web interface which means you don't have to be sitting at a specific PC to edit the settings.
thanks for that...I have yet to try and play with this. Truth be told, our CSR wasn't aware of this capability re: more than 1000 users, it surprised him. Its definitely a selling point for major accounts. Now if I wasn't so busy doing hand holding to our customers, I'd have more time to actually look at these in house.

You'd definitely want to have some sort of software to manage so many accounts too, as well as importing the accounts etc. All the manufacturers would supply software like this, though at a cost I'd imagine.
Have found another bit of groovy software that will track copies and prints as well called PaperCut MF. This is similar to PSES in the way that it works.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.
