KM 6500 Black prints posterized

Gentleman,

I Have a customer with a 6500 that is trying to print professional quality photographs in Grayscale. They print beautifully in color but when you convert them to Grayscale they print very posterized looking. Tried printing a color picture with the driver set to Grayscale. You get the same results. Its and IC-408 Fiery running 2.0 System software. They are printing from 10.5.8 Macs. Printing from Quark Express. But also tried from Photoshop. It made no difference. Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

Is the customer using command workstation? If so you could maybe trying a different simulation ie try swap coated or one of the other choices there.

It's a known problem with that model.
