Doc feed pickup roller does not drop to pick up paper. What causes the pick up roller to drop? When the feed clutch fires feed roller and pickup roller are driven but pick up roller does not drop.

Any tips greatly appreciated.

replace the separator pad or flip it over if you can. Had this problem with the Di1610 ADF which I think is similar.

Have a look at the sensor actuator in that area. I ran into that on a MC2490 which is the same machine, and the actuator was pushed up and out of the clips that holds it.
