minolta 1080 cs pro copies dark prints.

we have a minolta 1080 cs pro copier that all of a sudden we started to get dark copies. you can still see the text on the page very lightly but the entire page comes out dark over the copy. any ideas? we tried cleaning the corona wires but we still have the problem, could it be the drum? any ideas? thanks in advance.

Could be the drum ground, not likely if it was the drum itself it would happen all of a sudden. You may also have a bad corona end block on the transfer/seperation corona.

If it came suddenly it could be the exposure lamp. Had it happen once in the old days.

This machine most likely will have a cracked synchro clutch gear and the HV board surely will fail too soon, so be careful what you invest in it.

yeah the customer just wants to get the machine fixed, even though its an old machine. but i will look at the possible corona wire and drum ground problem. i will try and post up a picture of what its doing.
