been trying to update this old dog but that swapftl app from km keeps freezing up when pcmcia card is inserted to several different work laptops. was able to update and fully patch the old fiery and it helped with some issues they were having but km tech support says i still need to flash machine for other known issues. i'm almost ready to try flashing the card on my linux lappy but was wondering if i would still need an app to flash the firmware onto the card or if linux would be able to do this on its own? I have a linux mint lappy and an older lappy with knoppix, dsl and puppy linux and tons of different bootable linux cd roms just in case. i'm just waiting to get the awesome 16mb pc card back from our IT guy. anyone tried this yet?

I think so, just as long as the linux OS sees and talked to your PCMCIA port properly. I would guess it would work. I haven't flashed a box that old in like 5 years.Color is not 4 times harder... it's 65,000 times harder. They call it "TECH MODE" for a reason. I have manual's and firmware for ya, course... you are going to have to earn it.
