there are a few known possible causes for yellow iu failure,

leaking waste toner from box/belt/waste toner auger assembly at left of yellow iu (it doesnt take much and it contaminates the yellow charge grid, starting the sequence of destruction)

insufficient locking pressure as per black iu (either replace the lock lever or install more pads)

defective transfer belt cleaner, waste toner again getting into yellow charge grid. (thin coating of waste toner remains on belt at all times)

    defective hv board(s)

leaking toner from toner supply shutter, again, contaminating (which ever colour) charge grid.

if anyone has anything else to add, please do, this is becoming an epidemic.

1,Have you changed the gears for Transfer belt cleaning? I had one of them to go and went of with a grinding noise, yours may be on the way but without the grind as yet.

2,Do you re-fuse TB or getting new each time, as there is no blade only softpad-strips and rotating brush, I think they last only 1 lifetime.

I'm 99% certain the cleaning gears are a-ok, i visually inspected and it even has the later version wider gear. Also thr belt seems to be cleaning perfecto.

We dont extend the life of anything, unless its an emergency and theres no stock etc, this machine has always had new everything.

Btw, im yet to follow my own advise, im waiting for yet another yellow iu before proceeding. I will update if it works.

the reason this particular machine is destroying yellow iu's has been discovered.

its the black iu believe it or not.

the yellow charge section is heavily soiled with black toner/dev which starts the destruction sequence.

the black iu was 3 days old and already spilling dev at the rear side and it was being tracked along the belt and the on top of all the ius. (and yes, they're always installed correctly with the locking plate and there are never burn marks on any of the hv contacts)

the machine has today received, 4 new ius, new transfer belt and roller, new HV-1 board, all now locking levers & a waste toner drive section for good measure (incase it was leaking, which it wasnt)

I will return in 1 week, if the black is spilling again the machines going to the crusher.

weve had this a couple of times, the mod plate seems to have always solved it.
