fn 105 (di 470) jams when stapling

sorting is fine. regular copies fine. but when I staple it uses the other tray. and the copies will jam up at the roller in t he finisher. I watched it with the cover off. and the second set of rollers the paper comes through. all of the sudden will just stop. I have adjusted the belt tension in the back. but to no avail. what should I try. other then just not stapling at all? thanks for any thoughts..

I would check that the gate is directing the paper correctly, then I would check sensors and clutches. The gate that is kinda in the middle of the finisher has been an issue if I remember correctly, it gets out of adjustment and sends paper in the wrong direction.
