    ic-305 question

I saw on efi page that there are two SW versions of Fiery for IC-305. What's the difference between them and is v3 compatible with v2 hardware?
    Thanks

    Re: ic-305 question

The rule of thumb when it comes to controllers is "If it aint broke don't fix it!" If you have a working ic-305 with V2 system code why do you care about V3?

But to answear you question NO! You cannot load V3 on V2 Hardware. See the following explanation .

IC-305 differences may pose problems when ordering parts and troubleshooting.
    Solution
CAUTION : There are different parts used betweenIC-305 version 3 and earlier versions of the controller .Please verify that you are ordering the correct
part(s). The version 3 parts list is attached for reference. Compare part numbers from each document to ensure that the proper part is ordered.
Additionally, because the controller CPU s discontinued, IC-305 hardware is changed to a new platform. Some electrical parts are not compatible so the new
Hardware will not support older firmware.

Please ensure that the correct IC-305 part numbers are used when ordering.
Note :Refer to attached Bulletin Number 6408 for common IC-305 part numbers and IC-305v3_parts for VERSION 3.0 parts .See also the attached
IC-305v3.0 Hardware changes list showing the differences between the old and new IC-305 hardware.
Motherboard and Hard Disk Drive Replacement
Troubleshooting in the wrong order will cause the system to malfunction. In general, it is
highly unlikely that both a HDD and the motherboard are defective; therefore, avoid
replacing both to solve one problem.

    is incorrect and strongly discouraged.
    2. If the problem persists, reinstall the original HDD in the system, and then replace the motherboard.
Note : Reference the attached instructions for Motherboard and Hard Drive replacement. (Also see pages 59-94 of the Service Manual)
