konica minolta di 5510 scanning!

I have read the config guide. but need help from the experts. simply put. I have a di 5510 with a print controller only. I can print to it. no prob. I want to scan. do I onlly need to buy the hdd kit for this machine to make it a scanner as well? I know it is older. but still have a few in the field. thanks so much

do I need the hdd and print controller for this to be a scanner unit as well?
