BH283 duplex setting

Hey all
I have a customer with a BH283 that is has a curious issue. If you leave it on auto paper it copies normally, but if you choose a paper tray on the touch screen it duplexes the copy. I'm not sure if this is just a setting somewhere or if there is a problem. The customer says it doesn't bother them but I would like to figure it out. Firmware is up to date and I checked the copy settings and they looked ok.
Has anyone seen this before?

Sounds strange, I"d start by turning the copy screen back to "factory default". Also I'd check to see if once the tray is selected if it also highlights the duplex section on the screen
