What comes after Minolta Di-450 with Fiery?

Customer, a letter shop, has two Di-450 each with standalone Pi-5500 Fiery and FN-105 Finisher with Stapler/Puncher. Machines are running very, very well but getting old compared to competitors.

Have to replace them with two used KonicaMinolta machines. Machines are used 95% for printing, half of it with mail merging from Word. Printjobs are between 3-20K each. Refurb will be done by ourselves of course.

Which of the newer Bizhub B&W models you guys would prefer?

I would skip anything between the DI and the Bizhub C650. The C652 with Fiery added would be my choice if you have to go with used, otherwise, C654e/Fiery new. These are almost classified as production MFPs. Emujo

"C"? Color? Customer makes 99.9% B&W and has a color printer for the other stuff. I even doubt that the more modern machines need a Fiery.

If the customer has a need for the Fiery, then color is the only way to go (non production). B&W has no Fiery add on. But I agree, the new color boxes produce very high quality color w/o the Fiery. Emujo

Well, the next model after the Di450/550 is the Di551, then the Di5510 and BH600/601. I would avoid all these machines unless you want to be there a lot. They get better with the BH552.
I know my opinion will likely cause a discussion, but, I always say "Opinions are free and worth every penny"

What about the BH-501? As said, customer makes printjobs 3-20K with a total of 50K/Month and is very critical regarding print quality.

I'm not a big fan of the BH501. It is old Konica technology with Minolta peripherals to make it look good. They are not known for their copy quality.

Agree with Copier Addict: I don't like the 500/501 series. I do like the 601/751 series, though. A lot of people were having problems with the dev/drum units misting or dumping, but it has been totally manageable in my area. I can usually go pm-to-pm on the 751's without issue, as long as the customer uses good paper. This series does not tolerate excessive paper dust.

907tec is right about the 601/751. If these are high volume machines they will definitely run cleaner than if they are not used a lot. However, they will over tone eventually. It isn't a question of "if", it is "when". They do not have an ATDC sensor. They adjust T/C ratio by using a patch on the drum, so, it never really knows what the actual ratio is, which in time causes over toning because it seems to err on the side of adding more toner.
I have dealt with this engine from the Di551 up to the BH601 and they all do the same thing. Admittedly they improved with each model using this engine.
