    [Error Code] CF023

No reset procedure seems to get off the CF023 code from by C451, apart from
    (1) Data clear from service mode, or
    (2) HDD "Not Installed" setting on service mode.
The funny thing I realised with these MFPs is that HDD must be "Installed" for them to scan to any location.
The machine runs fine when HDD is "Not installed".
Whenever I change it to "Installed," even after formatting, the CF023 reappears. The HDD state confirmation shows that HDD is Ok!
    Any ideas?

I had this error in the counter before and some other odd behavior before (e.g., not reports some "p" codes). I cannot remember exactly if it was the FW or NVRAM. Try flashing firmware first, if that doesn't work try NVRAM recovery+firmware.
Error relates to: "An exceptional instance occurred due to the unexpected Parameter in the System F/W." and also the MFP board.

      Re: CF023

try to replace the hdd with a laptop one with the same size. install it and format it logically. do this just to be sure the hdd is to blame.
