C6501: Black vs Color developing unit

    Hello there.

I need to replace a black unit, but I only have color units at hand right now. I've checked the parts manual, but the only different part number is the unit itself - all the other parts share the same number.

So, what's the difference between those two? Can they even be swapped, if just for a while?

      Hi
I once exchanged a color unit for black to identify a problem, blocking the entrance of toner unit and it has worked only for a copy from the service mode. I would not put a color unit with the developer and he would do the black toner density because you may be error, the part number is different therefore would not let her work well.

Our company swaps the color and black dev units all the time but....

If a black unit has had toner in it and is not cleaned very well there is a potential contamination problem, especially with yellow.

Color unit going to black should be fine.
