Each of the last 3-4 firmware versions say this issue is resolved, but, if you read the firmware release notes you will find there are many reasons the MFP will generate this code, similar to the vague C-FA14 thread error. Even the newest version G00G9 has a blurb about this error. My advice is to install the latest firmware, verify your SSD board is at ver 6.03 or higher, ensure you bump the function version up to 6, and install the 5.XXX drivers. I'm sure the next release will also have a "fixes CE301 caused by some unexplained phenomena". Emujo

turn on the machine with the network cable unplugged.
if it starts up fine, clear the print queue.
make sure it is running the latest firmware, there are a plethora of print job related bugs that cause this.
Out of curiosity, what sort of print job related bugs? I have a nearly new 224e that is rebooting and logging E301. Upgraded firmware today (first visit)and it came back a few hours later. (k2)
They are running a Linux print server with 20 to 25 windows machines printing through it.
Will visit tomorrow to gather more info as I did not set this up initially.
Bugger! I have C454e with 3 logged C-E301 since I loaded fw G20-G9 plus a Issue with SMB & Email. I had to upgrade to G9 as per tech. support due to Account Track printing issues. (Mac OS.X 10.9 and 10.10) Since I loaded the G9 I am having nightmares! Have started a thread week ago. My scenario is 3 companies on same network running on Mac Server with 90% Mac stations.
SSD has been updated from within G9 firmware 6.03m to 6.05m. 2nd re-load of G9 have not shown any need of SSD update.
The one thing that puzzles me is SSW 25 which is set as HEX 40 (func.version 5)
In the G9 document states there is no functional difference between ver.5 MR & ver 6 if loaded from G9.Think I am going to call client to trip the SSW to 50. And see what happens.

.OK Google! ... will I need Berrocca this morning?
K2 is now the latest firmware. Function version 7 is softswitch 25 set to 60. Use with newest drivers. SSD version is now at 6.05.
This is exactly the state my 224e is at and tripping E301. Found driver on server set as a 554e and shared out as such. Had it changed to 224e and enabled debug log. Fingers crossed.

I have ensured all the drivers are set in my case to C454e engine mac and windows. No driver installed on Mac server. I'd get the print issue, just don't get the scanning issue.
