    CF-Card for BH-C-353

Can't find the thread anymore here about what type and/or brand of CF-Card is best for upgrading the older BH-C-253/353 series. Any advise please?

    Thanks

Thanks, anyone else with recommendations please? That Sandisk CF-Card is not available here in Europe.

Have you checked out ebay? I still find plenty on there.

There are Sandisk 128mb cards but not exactly the "Shoot&Store" one as Synaux mentioned.

I've had a few off ebay 128mb & 256mb which all worked for me.

I bought a batch ~15 of em off ebay so I could have preloaded firmware for something stupid like $5.00 each.

Here is another one that has more time on it.
This one ships in USA, but that is a somewhat generic item to fill out on Ebay when posting items. Send them a message asking if they ship to Europe

There are plenty more, but for 3-4x more.

                  Re: CF-Card for BH-C-353

Guys, I never had to load a CF card with firmware (I know, I know...) now I need the firmware for the c-253 to be transferred to my brand new CF-Card.

I have the Firmware Imaging Toolkit and firmware files as follows:

                  "C253.img" and also "C253 R6 Firmware.EXE"

The Imaging Toolkit is asking me either for files:

"Indexed Firmware File" or "Compressed Firmware Image File" or "Uncompressed Firmware Image File"

                  What to take please?

                  Hans

(PS Though I'm an old goat in the copier business do I feel very unsure about the firmware issue for these - for me very - problematic series of machines. Thanks for understanding)

I'll start you from scratch, just in case. This isn't the worst way to update firmware, but I admit it's not as easy as USB. You need a CF card and a couple backups. You cannot format in Windows. You must format inside the Toolkit and of course you need a card reader.

                    Firmware-

Run the R6 .exe it will extract files into a folder called "card_work" this is where the file is that the Toolkit needs.

                    Toolkit

                    Click Settings.

                    Select Advanced Features.

Click Format Card and format it

Click write firmware to a card, browse the "card_work" and it will select the tar.gz file

Yea I've formatted it every time for the last 4 years. It can be formatted within the Toolkit, not Windows. That's why it's there.

Tried today to install fresh firmware but obviously my card is wrong cause its shows following clumsy Japlish message in the display:

"Error. This is invalid card. Please make sure the card."

                            *sigh*

Firmware Imaging Toolkit is showing that its contains "Thames2" firmware and a long list of checksums.
Obviously can the machine not communicate with my card. I have a 256MB Transcend CF80 card. Other cards are hard to get. Will try to get one with 128MB.
