If you want to remove and throw away the firey this is not a problem, you just need to change the controller number in service mode back the internal number - which I do not remember. It is is in the service manual, which i do not have for these anymore. Someone else will chime in shortly I'm sure. It is really not a big deal and not a firmware issue. -
