developer motor wont always start i can get it to spin by manually turning it. is it a bad motor? or is it like some kyoceras that give motor error codes when interlock switches fail

We had a lot of these machines in the past and never ever a single C-0090 service code. Only thing I can imagine is an obstruction in the developing unit/drive. Did you check if the mag roller is turning freely? Occasionally we had the inner bearings go bad.

Garry, when those stepper motors make a buzzing/whining sound it is most of the time some kind of overload.
