KM 5050 New Operation Panel and Now Old "Dead"

Had an issue with a KM 5050 that had a touch screen that was acting up several months ago. Replaced the touchscreen and all seemed to be fine. The end user called and said it was doing it again so I took a look at it and found that the touch screen was non responsive/ not working correctly (it went to wrong menus) so I ordered a new panel. In the process, the end user moved the machine to another location. So, I located the unit, Installed the new panel and all seemed ok except I had no display on the new panel (I could make a copy etc. just using buttons). Next boot and the panel is non-responsive. The copier does power on but it makes a beep and sits. Doesn't appear to power up as it should. Installed the old panel and same results. Please help - the end user resumes operations Wednesday and I would like to have it working before they come back.

    Hmmmm....
I've sneaky suspicion you may have a faulty HDD.

Could be a Panel DIMM or board DIMM.

What error code was/is on the display ?

Two of the connectors on the boardare the same size and will accept one of the harness plugs. Can't remember off the top of my head the number of the correct board connector, but one is correct and the other should be empty.

I don't know if this is your problem but I did this once and it drove me crazy. There are two plugs around the middle of the board that are the same. There is one connector that will fit either one. I had it plugged into the wrong one and the problem sounds sorta the same as you're describing. The correct plug is the one closest to the edge of the board. There is also two different kinds of dims. An old style and a new one. The old style has yellow lettering on it. The dim style has to match what's on the main pcb. I'm sure you know all this but thought I'd try to give you a hand. Good luck.

If you get the connectors in the wrong place you will get a cf31 or something like that. I would check the wire harness maybe you pulled a wire out

YC1 has a connector plugged into it.
YC9 does not have a connector plugged in to it.
Did you try to calibrate the touch screen that you had replaced?
Simulation 201 is for checking and calibrating the touch screen.

I took pictures of the board and replaced the connectors in the same places, but I can double check to make sure I've got them in the right connectors. I also can check the DIMM. Was wondering if there's anything like a ROM version conflict that I need to consider?

The ribbon connector for the touch screen sometimes can get moved out of the connector when installing the panel (maybe this just happens to me). I would check that and reinsert if out or not in straight. You should reflash firmware and calibrate the touch screen as well.
