Kyocera Ecosys FS-1028dipslay error code C0180.

Hi Kyocera gurus, I have the above machine displaying the code C0180, when powered you see the scanning lamp move coward and then back , but at the same time there's a noise like broken gear or something, Any help will be appreciated. I am not an expert in kyocera printers.

I have a customer who is an elderly lady who loved making copies of big phone books and other books....she would push down real hard on DP...this caused the upper left part of the original glass to become unsealed and hang down and cause the scanner to bind up when moving back and forth...makes a horrible noise...there is a SIM mode for testing scanner operations...don't remember off the top of my head but it will allow you to run the scanner back and forth...try that and see if you can pinpoint what's binding it up...

check the scanner lock, the yellow tab on the top left of the scanner. [make sure it is in unlock position ] 1087 1087 into service mode , run u004 and check serial number of machine. select and iput correct number and execute. forgot how the actually procedure goes. did you replace mainboard ?. if fails still, try running u002 in service mode.

Thanks subaro for the lifeline. I ran u004 in service mode, got the machine number (Main), selected machine number (Engine) but was blank! I executed but got "Not Done' or something like that. Tried to run u002, factory default reset I think, no joy. But Now l I get error code C3100. Confused, more help needed. Machine was referred to me after someone failed to repair. Thanks in advance.

3100 ISU home position error

remove the adf. squeeze adf cable attached to connector and remove. remove two screws on rear top of scanner. remove the control panel label and pry around the conrol panel and lift the cover and pull it slightly towards the front. remove the scanner glass by prying arounnd the scanner rear and the tabs in front.
clean the scanner rail and lube with light oil. make sure the scanner can be moved to the home position without obstruction. put back scanner glass and leave adf out and then power on machine. report.
If the 3100 goes away, then the c0180 will be back, then go back to u004 and execute. if fail, then you may have to replace the mainboard. check all the connectors on the main boar also, remove and reinsert and check the scanner white cable ends for bent pins.

Thanks once again subaro for your help. Managed to clear the C3100, the home position sensor was dislodged out of its position, pushed it back to its position , cleaned the rail and lubricated, no more noise. However I now get C0150, defective engine board? Tried to clear using u004 and u002 all invain. Briefly machine say ready to copy,' then immediately enters the "call service mode c0150, any more ideas?

For C0150 upgrade firmware to the latest.

0150 and 0180 are related and points to the eeprom damage or corrupted or engine board defective. maniboard and engine is one board. It will be better if you get a used board with the eeprom. the machine serial number will now be changed to the one on the used board. with the age of this machine, i don't think it's worth the effort unless you get a cheap parts machine. try f/w as kyo mentioned, but ???

I am likely to surrender the deal. Getting another engine board here is like squeezing water from the rock!
