    PM kits

Some of the pm kits are getting very expensive. What I would like to know is do other dealers let the kits go till they fail or replace them on time.

We go on fail. I've seen Kyo transfer belts and fusers do some silly click. Also worth noting that Kyocera offer no warranty on PM kit parts but they do on separately purchased parts.

      Re: PM kits

on the bigger machines we replace the full kit when its due on the smaller machines we replace parts when they are needed .
on these machines we order kits and break them down into separate items and place them on the shelf as its usually cheaper to buy the kits than order separate parts.

I believe you are misinformed, according to the following from tech bulletin 1 all kits and replacement units due to failure are covered.

Maintenance Kits. Maintenance Kits consist of the developing unit, the drum unit, and the fixing unit. Components of Maintenance Kits included with the original MFP are warranted against defects in material and workmanship for a period of 36 months from date of installation with first endto herein as Original Maintenance Kit Warranty Period), or the specified number of copies/prints listed below (referred to herein as Original Maintenance Kit Copy Allowance), whichever occurs first. Replacement Maintenance Kits purchased and installed after the Original Maintenance Kit Copy Allowance has expired, shall have a limited warranty for the specified number of copies/prints listed below, or until the Original Maintenance Kit Warranty Period expires, whichever occurs first. Replacement Maintenance Kits purchased and installed after the Original Maintenance Kit Warranty Period has expired shall have a limited warranty of 90 days. To be covered by this 90 day warranty, the Replacement Kit must be installed and registered prior to the MFP exceeding 10% of the Original Maintenance Kit Copy Allowance. These warranties do not cover MFPs or components of Maintenance Kits which: (a) have become damaged due to operator negligence, misuse, accidents, improper storage or unusual physical or electrical stress, (b) have used parts or supplies which are not genuine Copystar brand parts or supplies, (c) have been installed or serviced by a technician not employed by Copystar or an Authorized Copystar Dealer, (d) have had the serial number modified, altered, or removed, or (e) Dealer fails to register the installation information for the MFP with Copystar utilizing KDAconnect. Maybe this has changed then but we were a Kyo dealer last year and got told we couldn't warranty parts from an MK. Don't go near Kyocera's now. Better kit out here that will all actually achieve toner yield too.

            Re: PM kits

IF you replace a pm kits within its warranty period, the new kit is warrantied till the expiration of the warranty of the machine. When you install a pm kit on a machine out of warranty, you are provided with 90 day from the day of installation and with the submission of the proper paper work. [ meter read and others].
            This is current with kyocera.

Ah, well we would have been dealing with PM Kits fit to machines out of warranty.

Individual parts however, we were allowed to warranty.

There is no way to use a PM KIT to replace parts for warranty, only to extend warranty or to get the 90day warranty on the kit itself... if parts fail, under warranty, you have to order the individual part. If warranty already expired, we evaluate the cost... if more than one part needed that would be in the kit, normally MUCH cheaper to order full kit, install and register the kit in that machine, saving the good used parts to use elsewhere when needed....
