P6021cdn Code 7404

I have a Kyocera P6021cdn that has a code 7404. I just started to look at it. Someone else has been servicing it. Here is what I know from the history.

Current meter is B/W 1,076 Color 2,763

In this order:

1.Cyan toner replaced.

2.Code 7404; 0002853 Removed developer (Y) and cleaned

3.Replaced Developer Unit (Y)

4.Code 7403 Removed Cyan Developer unit and cleaned

5.Cyan/Magenta colors off Color Cal. with code 7403; 0003363 Cleaned dev units installed Y and K toner


I did not do these calls but I have to fix it. Any ideas? Are these dev codes an issue for this model? First time on this model.

Repaired one of those a few months ago with exact error. Tech in the field replaced the yellow dev and problem came back again. It came in the shop and i replaced the relay pwb as per service manual and no go. replaced the engine pwb and same issue. looked at the dev and no toner was at all. seems like all the dev was gone. Anyway, replaced the yellow dev and unit worked. just to note, i had a hv pwb from another machine and i replaced it also. machine had only 2k on it.

The better way to get this repaired is to call kyocera and open a ticket and let them tell you which parts to replace, as you may need to replace a few. It's not the relay pwb, so don't bother with that, as you will find its a bit tricky to remove with the harness. hope this help.

I replaced the yellow dev unit and it seems to have resolved the issue. Thanks for your help.

EDIT: By the way it had compatible toners in it. When I replaced the yellow dev I put in OEM yellow toner.
