    Copystar 400ci

I was called concerning a maintenance light being on; I told customer that I did not think it would affect the operation of copier; they said that it also made a noise(grinding???) when first turned on then would go away after using. I'd never seen this copier before. I went out after asking that copier be left off until my arrival so I could hear noise and my request was not granted and copier was not making noise; ck'd fuser which looked ok. printed off several status pages for informational purposes only.
Customer also stated upon my arrival that color copies were not looking good. The one thing I noticed on that is that the black looked purple. On the print out with toner gauges the black is about out yet copier is not calling for black yet; and when I finished printing out status pages the maintenance time request was not present anymore???
    Questions:
    1. Are there simulations that can be performed that will help with color calibration with-out replacing parts???
    2. Any idea what could be making a temporary noise???

The machine does a scanner glass cleaning when first turned on that has a grunting type of sound. Rubber cleaning blade scrubbing across a glass surface.
