FAX issue re page setting.
Quick background of issue. Insurance Adjuster uses this primarily as their fax while they have a new copier without a fax on it. It was working but often receivers would say pages came to them landscape even when put in portrait. Tray one is broken so they have been using tray 2 for over a year - all ok.
HERE IS the situation: I went into settings mode and changed tray 2 to portrait and then changed guides.
AS SOON AS I DID THIS, the screen at top showed fax receiving error. MACHINE MANAGEMENT, * and tech mode were then non functioning???? The only thing I could do was using pause then able to copy. I unplugged for 10 minutes, did not make a difference.
FINAL possible clue. If I put paper into tray one which is set as landscape - even though it wont pick up paper, the fax error goes away - However, still can't get into tech mode etc. FYI (tray 1 is lost cause - false jams, not sensor, solenoid etc. it is a board issue and not worth the money to fix)
Needless to say customer is desperate, mad and is blaming us for breaking their "wonderful " machine.
