I have looked at individual parts for PM kit on 6550ci/7550ci as well as 6551ci/7551ci. With the exception the Parts Disposal Unit all parts are the same or roll to a newer number. I can only assume that using the kits for the newer machine 6551ci/7551ci would make better sense because of the newer part numbers. Is this common practice for these machines. About to PM my first 6550ci and wanted to get input from others that have done this.

Re: PM Kits confusion
The item that's different is a filter, if/when that filter clogs you will get extra heat, and c-codes, so make sure you clean it if you don't replace it.
But my real advice is... to protect yourself for any future warranty claims on the parts contained in the Maintenance Kit, order the kit the vendor recommends for your model/serial. (the current prices are the same for each kit/machine). And make sure your doing the right kit, the B&W vs. Color kits cycles throw some techs off the first time the run into the situation.
