6101 jams in bridge unit of 3501i

Hi,
Has anyone had experience with this? The paper jams at the left side of the bridge unit, seems to hit something, but can't figure it out. Will post more when time permits.

There are some staggered bump guides that guide the paper up to the bridge exit. One in particular towards the machine front is situated so that the edge of the paper will line up directly over it. Over time, it seems, this edge will hit the bump and cut into it. I've only seen this twice, but both times I cut/shaved the bump down and haven't had a callback.

I've had the same issue many times with machine showing various "finisher" jam codes and the problem being what wragsdale is mentioning. It happens most often with users doing alot of copies on "thick" media. I'll post what I believe are good pics showing the problem. Thanks for the helpful replies. Another tech had created a custom mylar that blocked the gate that switches the output tray. It worked ok until they got a fax, then jammed every time. I still don't know what caused the original problem, but no callbacks yet.

I had one of these that was jamming because of the damage from the edge of the paper causing a roughed up guide ( see earlier post from wragsdale). I tried to create a mylar to cover the damage and ran into the same problem. The mylar blocked the gate for switching the output tray. I had to remove my mylar and smooth the damaged guide as best I could.

I would suggest using emery paper ( finest grit you can get ) on the bump guides.. using a knife of such could cause you more problems... take a little bit off at a time and run your finger nail over it to make your the spot is smooth.

Thanks for the info guys. Exactly the problem. Used a soldering iron to reshape the plastic.
