    4501i data security kit removal

    Does anyone know how to remove the data security kit software from a 4501i? I am re-homing a 4501i and would like to remove this. Someone helped me do it years ago on another model but I have no recall of the process... Old age I guess!
    I don't see anything in setup or manual.

    Two thoughts. Don't know if this will work as I haven't tried it.
    First method;
    1 Press the [System Menu] key.
    2 Press [ ] and then [Application].
    3 Select the application you want to delete, and press [Delete].
    You can view detailed information on the selected application by pressing [Detail].
    4 When the deletion confirmation screen appears, press [Yes].
    Second Method;
    sim 24 format HD
    then Command center - reset to factory.

    Our tech rep is stopping by later and I will ask him as well.

    Let us know if either of the above works.

      That sounds like what I had to do on an older machine once. But on the 4501 Menu // Application // Nothing is listed.
      On this one System // Network // Optional it is listed but no way to deactivate
      I can also do system // network // Data security // verification and it will tell the activation code

      Also tried the sim 24 format, no joy
      data sanitation, no joy

      Thanks for the options, If you come up with any more, please let me Know,
      Mike

        I was able to dig a little deeper and found that once an official licensed copy of the Data Security Kit is installed it cannot be removed. Even if you install a new HD it will still be imbedded in the machine. Unless Kyocera can come and wave their GOD wand at it, it appears as if you are stuck with it.

          Just curious, why would you want/need to remove it?

            1. It seems to slow down boot up
            2. I don't think it is necessary on this machine
            3. I know I will get 50 questions as to what the little icon means
