    Kyocera Buying Ricoh production machines

Our kyocera salesmen was just in and told us kyocera is relabeling the Ricoh production units
and will be showing them in April kick off show.

Has anyone worked with the ricoh boxes ? From the northwest we dont see to many production units sold.

He said they will also be showing a 100cpm inkjet machine not sure who makes that one

I worked for Ricoh for many Years and now I work for a Kyocera dealer and hope and pray that does NOT happen. Ricoh production is just fast plastic and they suck.. and very time consuming.

I do know that Epson makes an inkjet that is north of 100 PPM and uses the same finisher that Kyocera finisher.

I do not think Kyocera makes the finishers.

In the day, not sure how true this still is but...pretty much all finishers are made by canon. Story goes that is how they got into the copier business in the first place.

Used to be that you would crack open a minolta or ricoh finisher and the darn things main board even said canon, though the staple heads have always been swingline.

I don't know who makes the finishers....What I do know is that the Epson with a spacer uses the same finisher.

Kyocera has held it's own against the big boys so I don't see the logic in this.
70ppm with staple, punch, saddle is plenty of market share.
Why risk your brand on someone else's intellectual property

I agree with you. We have techs who work on the Ricoh production machines and are very labor intensive. I hope this is "fake news", lol.

Unfortunately many school districts and institutions spec out for MFP north of 95 or so CPM and typically these are hard minimums.

Our Kyocera tech rep confirmed it and he is going for two week training at ricoh in a couple weeks.
I think he said Atlanta but i dont remember.
he also confirmed the high speed inkjet.
ricoh and the inkjet will be at the kyocera shown in April I think Florida

I work on both the ricoh production ProC7110 and the full line Kyocera's,if the placement is right the Ricoh Pro's do a good job other than the booklet finisher I'm told,The problem is design wise Kyocera and Ricoh are pretty far apart and the Maintenance procedure etc. on the Ricoh is kind of old school Unit rebuild type thinking whereas the Kyocera is Unit replacement centered for the most part.Ricoh allows a "skilled" customer into some of the tech settings area for adjustment by the key op,not good if you ask me,also Ricoh has a TCRU program that allows customers to replace parts themselves,Drums,Drum and Transfer belt cleaning unit, fuser, etc.,also not good if you ask me,but the registration and copy quality on these machines is pretty good, registration is so spot on that Ricoh actually suggests running copies back through to add an extra layer of white or clear toner to make them more solid. The best thing you caqn do is stress the importance to the customer of using the paper library correctly when loading different brands and stocks of paper,if they do paper problems and copy quality problems will be minimal.
