    Kyocera FS-C8520 toner pump installation

    Morning all

I recently attended a FS_C8520 which kept requesting black toner. I found that the toner shutter door plate which sits under the black toner cartridge was broken away which resulted in the toner not dropping down to the pump. So I removed the shutter door from the toner and removed the shutter door plate from the machine but it still requests black toner. Genuine toner in use.

There is also a clinking type noise when it tries to add toner and when running.

I assume the pump is making the clinking noise and wanted to see if this was an easy replaceable part?

I have experience on replacing the toner pumps on Ricoh MPC2800 series and know that is straight forward - 20 mins job there abouts.

I also wondered if it has caused damage to the gears that turn the toner and dev?

I think you have the wrong toner, or a bad toner cartridge. I am thinking that the clicking noise is coming from the toner cartridge motor trying to drive the augers in the toner cartridge.

      Thanks for the input

I checked the toner gears and tried new cartridges.
