Kyocera Mita ECOSYS m3540idn fuser

Hello, I deal mostly with the bigger Kyoceras like 420i, 520i, km4050, 5050, 3500i, etc. But now a client wants to fix a little ecosys with a bad fuser. Got the maintenance kit complete with drum, fuser, developer, etc but no instructions.

How does it come out? I have a 4020dn and ecosys 3640 where everything justs comes out in 2 seconds.

This looks like everything has to come apart.

the hardest part is to pry the back door off. it's really tight, you'll need a thick flat blade. and work the left hinge area. it will scuff up but shouldn't break.

After that it's just

1)snapping off the right and left two-tone covers
2)unscrew small wire cover near power cord to unplug fuser.
3)remove another black snap-on wire cover inside the frame by the front left of the fuser
4)unscrew two guides above fuser
5)unplug two more connectors behind left guide mentioned in step 4

this should be an fk3100 the fk3130 is very similar but on that one you need to actually power on the machine while the fuser is out so the pressure cams can lower

The serviceability for that model range of printer/mfp for all the common service issues is a huge step backwards from the models that came before! Everything is so time-consuming now, and the fusers are never getting to MK time.

the rear flap must come off, door must come apart, then off, the left and right rear corner covers must come off, another wire cover must come off the lower (machine right, rear) with a screw, pry off the stupid inner side wire cover, another wire cover under one of the upper fuser mounting screws, DONT tug too hard on the sensor wire that runs alongside the heat lamp wire or you'll break the sensor. make sure the pressure release lever is released when re-inserting the fuser or you'll have a bad time.

Set-aside a good hour at least, for your first time doing this task.

I agree the fusers are lucky to make 100k. But don't forget what a PITA 1128/1135 fusers were to replace

I have a couple 1135 running around, as fax and back up, but carry a spare 1135 on the truck, much faster than replacing the fuser.....

I feel lucky, we don't have any of those in our fleet
