    5050I fax issues

    Hey guys,

I have a 5050I that the customer complains that outgoing faxes is really slow. Sometimes the machine will even give them a time out error. They say it happens mostly on long distance numbers. I have never been able to recreate these problems. This machine has the latest firmware, both new dimms and has had ECM turned off. Has anyone heard or dealt with this problem? Any advice is appreciated. TIA

Is it bulk pages or just a few pages? What you can do if they are bulk faxes, is scan the doc to a document box and fax/send it from there, which frees up some of your fax memory for processing, especially with bulk faxes. ( I have several clients doing that for bulk faxes of about 140 pages.

International faxing could be a communication problem on the line/satelite what ever its going through.

You could also set you fax parameter T0 to its maximum. Im not sure under what simulation it is, i think it is SIM U641, but you can find that in your fax manual, and also drop your Baud rate to 9600, U630 i think.

Are the local faxes ok? I mean do they go through satisfactory for the client?

Lateset firmware being fax firmware aswell?

It is not bulk pages and local faxes have failed just not as often as long distance ones. They do about an even mixture of both. Latest firmware for everything. I will try the 2 things you mentioned later this week. Thanx

This is going to sound stupid, but you did test the line?
If its happening locally as well then it could be the line or the country code.

Line has been tested and country code is correct. Someone else just told me to reformat the hard drive for this problem. I will do this if your suggestions don't work.
