    SRDF2 won't stay up

first time I have seen this happen no broken springs and no cracked plastics but the doc feed won't stay up.

it is on a 3530, do these get weak with age?

is the left hinge more likely (the 1 with 2 springs)?

I have seen it, not very often but it happens. and yes it is the left one that does all the work.

we have to replace the left hinge on these all the time. The spring goes dead. The best way to tell when it needs replaced is to open and close the feeder and see if the left side comes all the way down to the glass or if it leaves a gap and needs to be pushed down. well before it stops staying open, it can cause skewing, jamming, or dark lines on the edge of the copy because of the original not touching the glass on one side.
