[Misc] Kyocera cs-305 dp-470 doc feeder.

ADF makes popping noise when you raise to make copy off glass and some times after opening door on the top like looking for a jam will still feed in and out doc-feeder can not see any gear damage looks like it would be a bear to break back side down to remove gears. did try to get price on new dp-470 not available. Has anyone had to repair /replace dp-470 for loud popping noise at end of copy?

That is a cheap document feeder. I have a couple of these machines out in the field. I am trying to replace a customers machine because the ADF doesn't sit right I haven't torn one apart. I am guessing the the plastic ADF is broken near the hinge. The ADF's on the 2560/3060 and 300i had the same problem. The plastic would start breaking near the LH hinge (near the ADF Feed assy) and you would hear a popping noise. Kyocera said those ADF would warp and had a cheesy fix for it. I don't think they ever tore one apart to find the little hairline cracks

is the noise coming from the rear or another area?
I've had some of these and others make noise where the velcro pad at the front left corner degrades, then the platen cover sags, and either catches on the front edging of the glass with an obnoxious 'pop' every time it's lifted, or makes a vacuum seal between the glass and the cover that is tough to break, hence the 5th pad without spring which is designed to break the suction by lifting the corner first.
