    DATA SECURITY KIT E

    Good day fellow techs.
I hope everyone is doing OK.

I am wondering if there is a way to disable a data security kit in order to eliminate that as being a problem with a machine.
Have been working with a a TASKalfa 6052ci with scan to email and scan to USB issues.
So far the HDD, SSD, and main PWB have been replaced. (On the advice of technical support) Not sure if I should consider the Engine board.

Any thoughts or suggestions always appreciated.
    Regards
    Ed

The issue is that the display will lock up and the only way to resolve the processing data message is to do a hard power ON/OFF.
      Printing proceeds as per normal.
This has been going on for quite some time.

The next procedure is to do a U964 and send the data collected to Kyocera engineers so that is being done this afternoon..

Thanks for the views to my issue.

      Cheers

The Data Security Kit protects the HDD(s) and should not have anything to do with your problem. I am assuming you tried scanning one page from the glass and updated the firmware. Since you cannot scan to email or USB it would indicate that there is a problem with the machine processing the scanned data. Check the connections to the scanner board and the main PWB. Had a case on a similar model about a year ago and if my memory serves correctly it was the scanner board. Unfortunately my connection to our service data base went down [thanks Comcast] while looking up the resolution. I would be looking at the scanner board or main board.

Thanks for the reply. I will keep the scanner board in mind. As indicated I have replaced the main PWB.
Just awaiting the results from MM-U964 to be checked.

          Much appreciated.

Once the Data Security Kit is enabled it marries the machine and there is no way to remove it. There is newer firmware for the panel locking up.

              Thanks for the reply.
The firmware is up to date.
The info from the machine has been sent to the Kyocera engineers to check.
I will keep updating once I hear more.
By the way I failed to mention that this issue is intermittent and that is why it seems so hard to resolve.

I had a 6002i that was doing a similar issue the engineers wrote some special firmware for it and it has been working since then. (about 4 months ago)

You still haven't answered kuby's question as to what problem are you having. Be specific, including exactly what you are attempting to scan.

                      Sorry
I thought my original post as having scan to email and scan to USB was my first description as to the problem. Locks up the display as just processing.
                      Thanks

Again, what exactly were you trying to scan. Depending on what that is, it might be your problem.

                          PDF files.
Quite basic I think. Anywhere from single page documents to multipage.
