    Kyocera 3035 faded DUPLEX copy

I am working on a 3035 and the second side of any duplex copy is "washed out", faded, (like real bad developer) but any normal one sided copy is fine, except for the fact that the Katun toner is slightly lighter than OE.
What could cause the second side to be so much lighter?

I would check u101 and check the default's haven't been altered. I've had this before and changed a brand new transfere unit but someone had altered the default settings.

First side of the copy good, the second side was poor/faint/broken.

Try and set the transfer voltage up some and that should help too.

You should also check the transfer roller busings to make sure they are clean and make good contact. They also replaced them with newer parts. Refer to service bulletin #7951. Also make sure transfer roller is clean.

Take a toothbrush and scrub the hell out of the transfer roller. It may take little while and a couple of attempts, but that'll fix it. Happens to almost all of the Falcon 2 boxes.

There was also a firmware update a few years back that addressed the issue of faded image on 2nd side duplex. I have seen this issues fixed on a few machines with a firmware update. Make sure you have the latest firmware in the machine.

            FROM the Firmware release notes:

Measures against unsuccessful transfer on reverse side of paper in duplex copy mode

If the transfer roller becomes dirty by the repeated copy operation (around the time of reaching 100K copy), in duplex mode, the reverse side of image might not be successfully transferred. Therefore change the transfer current value for the reverse side of plain paper. (Increase the transfer current.) (Plain paper: A3, A4, B4, B5, 11x8.5, 11x17, Reverse side in duplex copy mode, Absolute temperature: Humidity 100 or less)

finally someone who know what they're talking about. (and it happens even down to 40k)

              new fw=all is well.

                I agree

I had a setting for sim 101 at 130 and the double side was faded. At 140 the copy was ok but check for a long run to see if the static is to high if not you fix it.

Care to explain that because it's coming across as a bit of an arsy comment to the people who have tried helping on this thread.

                      Bangin,

I guess its our fault for assuming that a tech would automatically have updated the firmware and not have to be told to do so. Especially on a Kyocera product.

Damm.... and i thought that just maybe just maybe firmware doesnt fix EVERY problem. Now i know that firmware is like magic and it cures every problem from tipex(correction fluid) on the glass to a blown copy lamp i'll have a 100% first time fix if i just update the firmware everytime

When i spoke to my kyocera rep he told me to look at what i suggested in the previous post and yes it worked. He didn't recommend the firmware at that stage as he knew what was causing the problem. Now i could have rebooked it back for a supervisor to update the firmware(if needed) and made the customer wait more time but hey what do i or the kyo rep know.

In my company i dont do firmware upgrades as i rely on a pda for my manuals and email thats it - if i suspect its firmware i'll check for the latest version and rebook if needed.

Each fault requires a different approach and not everythings black and white!

sorry if i put you off or stepped on your feet here, but seriously: your blowing this way out of proportions now.

the faded duplex issue is neither a new, uncovered or unknown problem. it's mentioned in bulletins and fw history, even on this board if i'm remembering correctly. i don't assume that every joe on the street knows its cure, but someone who service kyoceras (and who answers a question about the matter on this board) should know. no reason to get touchy about it.

this is also not an arguing board. plenty of those elsewhere on the net. lighten up.

AT LAST THE SELF STYLED SAVIOUR OF KYOCERA HAS SPOKEN TO US MERE MORTALS!

If you as stated "but someone who service kyoceras (and who answers a question about the matter on this board) should know" then i presume you have a 100% FTF and never need kyocera tech support as you know everything. The words BULLS**T comes to mind and no i'm not touchy on the subject but show some FUCKING respect to other engineers on here who have had similar problems and have fixed things through non use of the firmware updates!

this does not lead to anything good. like i said: i'm sorry. take a breather and go argue somewhere else.
