    KM2530

Went by customer today for what error message. It may print a few pages, and then it says "system error, unplug power cord", or something like that. No codes are shown, and the copy and fax still work fine. Only the red light shows by the printer button and the print screen gives this message. I can do an error reset in service mode, and it will print 2 pages or so and then throw the message again. I pulled the print kit and reseated it, but no change. Also pulled RAM stick and reseated, no change. Any ideas?? thanks

How exactly do you upgrade firmware on these. I am a Canon Tech, but just getting in to some of the KM stuff. Also, where do I come up with it. Also wandering if it could be a ram problem......Wha kind of Ram does it take?

There is no question of updating, which is probably wrong is the firmware module of the card printer, you must replace it to discard it.

There is a CF slot for firmware upgrade, so for an upgrade you need a CF card and firmware itself...

Could the firmware be wrong even though it has worked ok for years. Or is the issue maybe that it is corrupted?

What I doubt is removed from your exchange with another machine, you can test it at 3530,4030,3035,4035,5035

                  There is no HD.
Ok, I am at the customer. I cleaned the corona which made no difference. Also, there isn't any optional ram. the 2 slots are empty. there is a small stick of ram or something toward the top of the print card. Is this ram also, or what. I reseated that to no avail. The firmware version is 72.12.02-3CR.

ok guys. New info. I hooked up my laptop through crossover and the machine doesn't error out. Prints just fine. as soon as I hooked it back up to their network cable, it coded out. what could possibly be wrong with their network that could cause this. strange. under print screen it says: System error, please disconnect main power.

Geez, figured it out! After realizing it would print fine from my laptop, I got to digging around the network. So happens, there was a PC in a back room that had a print job in queue. It was a 3 page pdf document and everytime it would spool to the printer, the printer would say "processing" and then kick the error message. Deleted this job from queue and all is well. Go figure, never seen a print job code out the machine.......thanks for all the help guys.

Perhaps an IP conflict? Next time it gives that error try unplugging the machine's network cable and pinging it's IP address. If you get a response then something else is trying to use the same IP.

I actually did try that with no response. There was some issue with that print job, but don't know exactly what it was.
