Kyocera MFP scan with FTP using SSL/TLS

    Hello,

on some MFP i'm unable to define a working address book entry which scans via encrypted FTP. It's working on newer MFP like Taskalfa 3353ci with the 'new' webinterface but it's not working on Taskalfa 4052ci or M5526cdn or M6526cdn with the 'old' webinterface. FTP without encryption works there as usual but FTP using SSL/TLS does'nt as Kyocera describes (network protocol encrypted FTP, network security enable SSL and TLS in different versions and so on).

On the newer webinterface address book configuration is a separate test button which offers encrypted connect test and this is working with FTP over TLS. In the older webinterface there is no such button. It does'nt matter what I try: it will not connect with TLS or SSL. I tried with different ports, protocol, destinations, ftp server (Filezilla FTP Server, vsFTPD, pure-ftpd), whatever i do: packet capture shows no initial TLS or SSL handshake on the older MFP.

Does anyone have a working solution to scan with FTP using SSL/TLS on Kyocera Taskalfa or MFP?

    thanks

Taskalfa 4052ci, M5526cdn (bought last week), M6526cdn or M6535cidn are not really old. Kyo provide TLS under Security Settings / Network Security. It's just not working with FTP or i'm to dumb to set it correct.

you could check the working machine web interface for a difference or contact Kyocera tech support

There's nearly no difference, nothing significant. It's a complete different website and user interface. I contact Kyo Tech Support a few days ago, still no answer ...

This will sound stupid try turning off ftp encrypt

also any change in protocol setting requires a network card reboot or machine reboot for it to take affect.

Should be same information on both machine just look different

I personally don't like the new interface color scheme or fonts

So, found it. It works as expected with TLS1.2, AES / AES-GCM and SHA2 only but you can't test it remote with the older web ui. That's the only problem: test button isn't working. You have to go to the MFP and test or scan it there. Bad for me about the long test (more than a week), good for the customer because it's working.

Background: they're working more and more from different home offices or remote places and have some MFP there. They scan via FTPS to a remote machine where a daemon gets the upload (pure-ftpd script) and transfer it to a cloud account. FTP login and file transfer is encrypted and even if the FTP account is hijacked (because of remote access to the MFP or anything else) there's no access to the cloud account - only to a nearly always empty FTP folder.

                still thank you

                  Hi,
I know the "case" is closed but just want to add that you can remotely access many Hypas capable devices screen with VNC viewer. This is a great help when performing user experience testing.

                    Thanks, yes, i know it.

Bad news: the latest bought MFP, the M5526cdn, will not scan to the FTP account per TLS or SSL. This device is the first one which should be used in home offices. The plan was to get more of them. Now this, really bad.

The same options are active as in all other MFP but it didn't work. The device logs in per FTP but didn't transfer any scanned file. Firmware update didn't help. A separate PC in this remote network with filezilla client with the same parameters uploads files in this account. So I have to search and trace again why this device is not working
