    True, but there are exceptions to every rule.

    We've had bizhub Presses running a generic PCL driver on a Mac with success. This is the first place to experiment when you have print issues. Try each of the emulations to see which gives the best results. =^..^=

    PCL5c pretty good

    Sometimes you got to find one that works for a weird font issue but Pcl5 almost never has issues.

    I'm curious how many Kyocera factory trained techs had to learn prescribe and what level of expertise were you able to achieve?

    One thing the manual did force me to do is learn about about the different Kyocera print drivers and emulations. That was interesting and I should have taken the time to learn it long ago. Better late than never, I suppose.

    Blackcat, what did you get me into?
    Factory trained Prescribe class in Texas
    Only a few times using in the field.
    Your can create forms, logos etc.....
    Best real world was replacing a dot matrix printer
    and repeat copy using all 4 trays on colored paper.

    Not used that much but a factory dealer get discount points IE dealer score if your trained.

    Plus did have to use it a few times.

    Question about resetting NIC for TA-3501i that I have here at the shop.

    When I execute:

    Reset for internal network is : ECHO !R! SIOP0,"RESET:0"; EXIT;

    Reset for option network is : ECHO !R! SIOP2,"RESET:0"; EXIT;

    The command seems to go thru for both and I get a black sheet of paper printed out. Is this the way it's supposed to work?

    Also, I read a couple of other commands on here for resetting the NIC but I get an error message relating to job accounting which is turned off. Here are those 2 commands:

    !R! ACNT "EGRE";EXIT;

    !R! ACNT "REST";EXIT;

    Congratulations on your success. =^..^=

    It wasn't excess. You gave me enough to keep me busy for a while. I love learning this stuff. Should pay off down the road somewhere. Thanks again.

    Older Kyocera models you could change some parameters through the web page.
    blackcat mentioned ICLINK but said it was mostly unsuccessful. The Jar Method is simple enough and it seems reliable.

    He also mentioned that I can send a data capture to the printer and it will print without a print driver. That's next on the list.

    The problem is elsewhere. IE clutch etc...

    You can also do some special features
    as we replaced a dot matrix printer
    we set it up to make copies 4 copies using 4 different paper trays. Pretty cool

    Side Note: In my head I had built up Prescribe as the 500lb. guerilla in the room but that couldn't be further from the truth. As long as you use the LPR Jar method, enable Java and save the command in notepad as a txt document, you're golden.

    Thanks for all your help blackcat. Much appreciated.
