Kyocera P6035 "Check cassette 1"

I've run across this issue recently on two of these. The printer will randomly give a "Check cassette 1" error. I found a post somewhere about stretching the springs for the feed roller and separator rollerd, but I did that. Everything seemed good when I tested, but the calls came back.

I did some digging and found a retired coworker tried a bunch of things to resolve the issue, but nothing worked permanently. He replaced all the rollers, some springs, the sensors and flags for tray 1, the cassette itself, and the feed drive assembly. He also replaced the paper size sensor.

On another note, out of all the printers and copiers I've worked on, it is my opinion that the Kyocera Ecosys P6035 and M6635 is the worst design I've ever seen.

I have come across this and I've found two solutions.
The easiest is pull the cassette and place your finger on the lowest of the three switches on the left front. This switch can short out and the lowest corresponds to the LTR size.
The second is the two optical switches in the rear right of the machine. If you have to replace it, be sure to grab the springs and the white actuators along with the PWB.

I also remember that when you replace the retard roller assembly that the cassette should be installed.

I can check those out, but I believe they were previously replaced. The problem returned.
