    Pinpoint scan error

I have a 5053ci , that gives a message of Unable to scan. I have done all the windows updates on the computer side and reinstalled PPS on the computer side, but it still gives this message. Has anyone seen this before and if so whats the fix?

Update copier firmware and reboot copier. Usually when I get this , a copier reboot fixes it.

Also, disable IPV6 in System menu.

Reboot the copier and update the firmware. Typically, this issue is resolved by rebooting the copier.

              Speaking of Pinpoint Scan....

This is my first time installing it. Kyocera sent me an activation code that was alpha-numeric. But when I went on the machine, I could only input numbers. This had me confused. I should have read the instructions better.

Turns out that I had to register the product online first and enter the serial number and it issues a new activation code that contains only numbers.

Now, I did try the demo version of Pinpoint scan at our office and it worked flawlessly. It's impressive.

NOTE** Pin Point and the activation code are married to the machine it is installed on. You can not uninstall it and then reinstall it on another machine. Best to keep a record of the code and machine it is install on. If the board goes out or something else happens then you can reinstall it but only on that machine.

Yeah, that's the reason you have to register it online first and enter the serial number. That marries it to that machine and that machine only.

I purchased a few more activation codes and installed them yesterday on 2 Kyocera's and 1 Copystar. The Kyocera's worked fine. The CopyStar activated with no problem but when I opened it it asked for a pincode as expected. However, when I touched the box on the LCD panel to enter the pincode, nothing happened. It's like it was frozen, On a copystar (at least this one), you have to press the hard numeric button and the soft numberic keypad will pop up and then there's no problem. And, yes, firmware is up to date.

Yea on some Kyocera's newer models you have to do that.
