    F248 with latest firmware AS400

    Howdy folks,

Ive had a few cases now were the version 4.00 firmware for the 3554 and Version 3.00 on 7003 has caused non stop F248 codes when printing from a AS400 server.

One client indicated they probably had not updated their "drivers" in 10 years since the old stuff just kept working with the new equipment and changing the "driver" solved the problem. Ive got another client still having issues and we are rolling back the firmware.

    Just a heads up.

If the firmware and the print driver are up to date, you should get very few F248 errors.
Have found that updating the firmware and drivers reduces F248 errors.

Next thing to look at would be what is making the PDFs.

      Just a update

Both clients have changed their "driver" on AS400 to IBMSNMPDRV. This does require the SNMP to be at it's default of public. The one customer changed to IBMSNMPDRV with no issues afterwards. The other had changed the SNMP name and still had issues printing. Changed back to public corrected this.

Apparently Japan is aware of this issue and has escalated. Until new firmware is released either downgrading firmware or switching to the the SNMP driver is the only remedy currently. HP PJL (*HPPJLDRV) is out.

We have seen this on 3554, 7003 and 308 so far.

The previous firmware for the 308 has been pulled so that's fun. I think the new firmware addresses a issue that was killing the SSD on the main board.

They have put out a firmware update for this for a MZ4000i/MZ3200i just today. Maybe other updates not far behind.

I would suspect that firmware will actually break it. These firmwares are pretty new.
