    Kyocera FS-C8520mfp memory low issue

Good morning Guys, I received a call from a NEW customer that has a Kyocera FS-C8520 color mfp.. she tells me they don't use it for anything but occasional printing and mostly copying. She says she walks up to the machine & it says "Memory Low" in the display & she can't even make a copy. I am heading there in a little while today, but thought I would check with you guys on anything I should look for. I was thinking to maybe try a FW update, but wasn't sure if that was a fix for their issue.
    Any help appreciated!

Check and see if message is still there and where? FAX/ Scan?

Default scans to black and white text

Do a unplug for 30 second and reboot

Re: Kyocera FS-C8520mfp memory low issue

Hey guys, went out on this call and of course when I get there it is working perfectly... The lady told me she has been working from home since the start of Covid.. they came back to the office & this "Memory Low" message was on machine. She said they unplugged it for a couple hours & when they plugged it back in it has been working good ever since. Sitting for a couple years & then started to use it. It only has a total of 13,800 pages thru the machine. So, I tore it apart, cleaned the optics, doc feed rollers, feed rollers, swept the machine & sold them a new Black toner & I was on my way. I told her if the message keeps coming back that we could try a F.W. update, but until there's an issue, I didn't want to do that for fear of another problem coming up. She was a happy Camper.. I like it when there really isn't anything wrong other than a reboot of life.

why are you not comfortable doing an FW update? you should have done a FW update while you were there.

Don't you think setting to Auto Color is better?

A couple years back I did a firmware update on a copystar 205C and then the customer had nothing but fuser issues and kept coming up that the sorter/ finisher needed closed, the machine didn't even have a solder/ finisher stapler or any of that stuff.... So now unless there's an actual definitive problem that I can't clear with a simple unplug or reseating of parts of the machine that's the only time I do a firmware update or if there is an actual firmware update for a specific issue... Nothing worse than trying to fix a machine and making it worse.

Auto color makes the file size 4 times larger

              Default settings B/W text

If color is needed as default use hi compression
