We are trying to pull out the process units. We have followed the book as best we can without success. Are these units made to come out??? If so, how???
    Thanks!!!

ok - yes the manuals crap and the machine for that matter!

    1. Pull the transfere open(right side)
    2. remove the toner, waste toner and main charge units from the inside
    3. remove the 2 screws by the grey leavers - this should allow you to release the black plastic plate (i think) and wiggle it about till it comes off.

The trick to getting the drum/dev units out it to push the black levers upwards or downwards (can't remember) and push the led unit upwards - it is tight and this will pull the metal shaft out of the way of the drum units allowing it to be removed.

The 4 black levers are there but you have to look carefully and be carefull (i broke one) with them. If you can see where the led's sit the levers are to the right of each one.

It makes more sense to see it in front of you but the best advice is to be carefull with the levers and dont get angry.

Raise the printheads prior to removing the drum cover. It makes it easy on and off. After turning the lever on the left you can start removing the image units left to right.

Thanks!!! however we finally figured it out it's hard working on used equipment especially when your having to learn it as well. One more question on this copier. What would cause it to copy the outside ends of the copy but not the middle paper travels through copier 11x8.5. The drums all look good are there slit glasses???
        Thanks!!!

Is the problem with optics or engine side i.e have you done the internal print with 10871087 and printed off a report to eliminate the optics.

Check the dev units if you have the drum units out remove the 2 side guides 1 spring either side and lift the dev unit at and angle and it reveals the drum and dev unit as seperate items.

Clean the led print heads with a dry cloth or a solvent cleaner - to do this though you have to remove the whole of the transfere unit.

optics first, then clean charge. also remember that these old copiers are totally crap on colour (dev units ustable and undersize). and slow. not worth putting money into them. (as plain black copiers they're ok, though)
