    Can't Figure Out Dark Copies

Have a KM-2050 which makes dark copies after running a sheets through the doc feeder. The number is totally random. Turn the machine off and on again, and the copies are clear again.

Replaced the cracked slit glass and the connector/cable running from the doc feeder to the machine already but same problem.

When the machine starts making dark copies, the copies from the glass work fine. Only the doc feeder copies are dark and remain dark until the machine is turned off and back on again.

    Any clues?

its sounds to me like the control board in your document feeder is bad...
    this is true if...
    1. the copier can do internal prints without generating dark copy error
    2. the copier can make multiple copies of one page from the glass without generating dark copy error
    3. the copier continues with the doc feeder dark copy issue after...a 906 reset... a firmware update and a reseating of the boards...
    4. the scanner lamp is not dimming but working at full intensity...

    good luck

Did you try changing the scanner timing, somewhere around sim 63 or 68?
